Living here: what to check before you buy or rent

Before you decide, ask the agent or building management about the tenure, the type of land title, the monthly maintenance fees and the sinking fund. Ask which facilities are available and whether any carry extra charges. View the unit in person. Check its condition, water pressure, natural light and noise, and look at the common areas and lifts. Buyers should check the title and any restrictions with a lawyer. Tenants should read the tenancy agreement carefully, including the deposit and house rules.
